A FOOTBALL fan who punched another fan in the face, damaging their teeth in the process, is being hunted by police.
And investigating officers have released a CCTV image of a man they say may have vital information for their case.
The assault took place at 9.45pm, just after England won on penalties against Columbia in the World Cup round of 16 game, on Tuesday, July 3.
Police said that an altercation started at The Station Tap pub in Station Road, close to Wokingham’s railway station.
Drinks were thrown over a group of people during the game and the group retaliated by throwing drinks back. Police said that the groups had to be separated after the fight.
They added that a man who was being restrained went to punch the person holding him, but struck another man in the face instead.
The victim, a 22-year-old man, attended the Royal Berkshire Hospital and was later discharged, and received damage to his teeth which will require further treatment.
Investigating officer, PC Wasim Akram based in the Investigation Hub at Loddon Valley police station, said: “I am keen to speak to the man in this CCTV image, as he may have information which is vital to our investigation.
“Anyone who recognises the man in this picture, or has information about this incident, should contact Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting reference 43180207003.
