THIS DECEMBER residents of the borough can benefit from free parking to get their Christmas shopping done.
The free parking will run during the daytime on Saturdays in the run-up to Christmas. In the car parks taking part, parking is already free in the evenings and on Sundays. This means that the whole weekend will be free for motorists.
The weekends included are Saturday, December 7, 14 and 21.
The popular initiative has been running for a few years now and hopes to encourage residents to shop locally.
Car parks taking part are:
• Polehampton Close, Twyford
• School Lane, Wargrave
• Shute End, Wokingham
• Denmark Street, Wokingham (council-managed section only)
• Easthampstead Road (east and west), Wokingham

“We’re pleased to be able to offer free Saturday parking again this year in the run-up to Christmas,” said Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport.
“We plan for it every year because it is the right thing to do for our residents while also encouraging them to shop locally in all of our Borough’s towns and villages. We have some fantastic shops and want to do all we can to help our local economy.”
