Almost nine in 10 pupils will be going to their first choice of secondary school this September.
Wokingham Borough Council revealed that overall, 96% of Year 6 pupils will be attending one of their three preferred schools come the start of the new academic year.
Overall, 1,691 pupils will be going to their first preference school, 148 will attend their second preference, 34 will attend their third and just 12 pupils will be going to their fourth preference.
The council received 1,954 applications for places.
For the parents on a waiting list for a preferred school, they will be able to find out where they are on that list from Wednesday, March 15. This is because time must be given for parents to accept or decline their offer of places.
Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor, executive member for children’s services for Wokingham Borough Council, said: “School places are allocated fairly and objectively, and each application is considered using the criteria agreed for that school.
“I would like to thank our admissions team and schools who have done a fantastic job advising parents how to use their preferences wisely and, what to do if they are unhappy with the place they’ve got.
“We are very committed to high standards of education provided at all of our schools, so parents should be reassured their children will receive a good education in the Wokingham borough that will enable them to acquire the skills to succeed in life.”
