Parts of two motorways and their slip roads on the A329M and the M4 will be closed this week and next to enable new signs to be installed.
The A329M has recently been part of a hugely controversial project which has seen the two-lane motorway be split into two single lanes: one for traffic to go on the M4 and another for A329M traffic.
Motorists have been left confused and baffled by the changes, mainly due to a lack of signs. We have reported on numerous accidents over the past couple of months at the new junctions and drivers have witnessed near misses.
Now that misery is set to come to an end as Highways England plan to install new signs.
It issued a warning today that overnight roads closures will be in place on Thursday, December 10, Friday, December 11, Monday, December 14 and Tuesday, December 15
A spokesperson said: “Road users in Berkshire are advised that various slip roads on the A329M and M4 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, to allow signage to be installed.”
The closures:
Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December
- A329M southbound carriageway from the A3290 Winnersh Triangle to the A329 Coppid Beech Roundabout
- Eastbound entry slip road from the A329(M) to the M4
- Westbound entry slip road from the A329(M) to the M4
- Link from the M4 to the A329(M) southbound carriageway
Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 December
- A329(M) northbound carriageway from the A329 Coppid Beech Roundabout to the A3290 Winnersh Triangle
- Westbound entry slip road from the A329(M) to the M4
- Eastbound entry slip road from the A329(M) to the M4
- Link from the M4 to the A329(M) northbound carriageway
Highways England said that clearly signed diversions will be in place during these closures.
The spokesperson added: “Drivers planning to use these sections of the A329(M) and M4 are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time to reach their destinations.”
