THE hum of the motorbike gave way for the rustle of the chocolate wrapper on Saturday as thousands of Easter Eggs were donated for a special Easter event.
Members of the Thames Vale Vultures teamed up with Rotary Club volunteers to staff a collection point for the seasonal treats at Asda in Lower Earley.
As shoppers arrived, they were invited by the bikers to buy an egg and donate it to the collection point on the way out.
All eggs donated will be given to children in Berkshire who would otherwise do without this Easter.
The event – which will also take place this Saturday – acts as a precursor to the annual Berkshire Egg Run on Good Friday.
The bikers will gather at the Scours Lane end of Stadium Way Industrial Estate in Reading from 11.30am on Friday, April 19.
From 12.30pm they will then ride to the Abbey Rugby Club in Emmer Green, where they will present more Easter eggs and take part in a presentation.
All eggs will go to children in care.
A note on the group’s Facebook page said: “Huge thanks to everyone who came down to help us at ASDA today. We collected over 2,000 Easter Eggs. You are amazing people and we thank you.”
