Bracknell Bees have played their final match of the 2017/18 campaign following a two-legged quarter-final defeat to London Raiders in the NIHL 1 South play-offs.
Head coach Scott Spearing told The Wokingham Paper last week he was confident in progressing to the semi-finals, declaring Bracknell to be “a better team” than Raiders.
But it proved to be a tight affair.
Bees lost 6-5 at The Hive on Saturday evening despite goals from Shaun Thompson, George Norcliffe, Callum Best, Danny Ingoldsby and Josh Martin.
Bracknell trailed 5-3 heading into the third period and did at least reduce the deficit to one goal going into Sunday in the reverse leg.
And the tie was levelled at 7-7 thanks to goals from James Galazzi and Martin, but Raiders struck twice late on to seal a memorable 10-7 aggregate victory.
