BINFIELD Football club played host to the EPC Bracknell Football Awards to celebrate the beautiful game on a local scale.
The evening was hosted by Sky Sports News presenter Tom White, who guided the attendees through the celebration and presented several awards to the worthy winners in categories including: player of the season, referee of the season and volunteer of the season.
White then hosted a question and answers panel at the midway point of the event with Hungerford Town manager Ian Herring, Binfield chairman Bob Bacon and Woodley United Ladies co-manager Nuno Antunes.
Football in Berkshire also dedicated the final award of the evening, for service to the local game, to the late Darrell Freeland who had been a pioneer in helping to establish the ‘Football in Bracknell’ website.
“The Football in Bracknell website was setup by me and my friend Darrell Freeland. Darrel passed a way a couple of months ago and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank this local football community for all the support and kind words that have been offered,” said co-founder of Football in Berkshire Tom Canning on the night of the event.
“It seemed fitting to rename this lifetime achievement award in his honour and focus on people who did what he did, dedicate himself to the local game in whatever format that takes.”
