BRAIN HEALTH and performance was discussed by a registered nutritionist to mark of World Mental Health Day.
Hosting a talk at Wokingham Library, Joanne Hart from Health and Hart advised local residents on how they can effectively manage their short and long term brain health.
At the event were attendees ranging from busy Mums to retirees who were looking for nutrition and lifestyle tips to benefit their brain.
Ms Hart said: “One of the tips I gave was about blood sugar balancing.
“Often we think of sugar being in sweet foods, but there is also a lot of it in bread, white rice and potatoes.
“By reducing this and increasing protein consumption, this can help support the brain better.”
Ms Hart often advises clients between the ages of 30 and 60 who are concerned about their performance in the workplace and stress levels.
“For these people, it’s about how they can improve their brain health going into the future,” she said.
“Whether that’s improving memory in older age, or managing stress in the office now, your nutrition can really impact the performance of your brain.”
