FORGET coffee beans, staff at a Wokingham cafe were full of jumping beans after learning that readers of The Wokingham Paper had voted them the best place to get a brew.
Last month, we asked Wokingham to vote for their favourite place to grab a coffee in Wokingham town centre.
The contest, just a bit of fun, was called the Wokingham World Cup of Coffee.
In all, 36 venues ranging from bars, leisure centres and cafes, were entered into the draw. Votes were tallied across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter whittled down to a grand final between Brown Bag in Erfstadt Court and newcomers Blue Orchid Bakery in Peach Place.
And it was Brown Bag that came out top of cups.
Last Friday, editor Phil Creighton presented Brown Bag owner Tony Edwards with a specially made cup to acknowledge their winning feat.
“The team are incredibly proud,” Mr Edwards said. “We started 14 years, before any of the big chains came to Wokingham.
“We’re pleased to be held in such high esteem and proud to be voted Wokingham World Cup of Coffee champions of 2019.”
A similar contest is planned for other places to grab coffees across the borough.
At the moment, we are running a free contest to win a spa day and a two-course lunch at Holiday Inn Reading South. To be in with a chance of winning this great prize, log on to our Facebook page and follow the instructions.
