THOSE old jokes about women drivers are thankfully long consigned to history. And to prove it, Reading Buses’ latest star of the month has been nominated for her skill behind the wheel.
Driver Jennie Hughes received the award after one of the company’s customers said she had “great bus handling skills”.
Ms Hughes has been with the firm, which runs the Leopards, Lions and Orange routes, for five-and-a-half years. Her winning attitude has been noticed by her customers.
The nominee said: “Jennie is always cheerful and makes all the passengers welcome on board.
“Most importantly, her bus handling skills make the journey very comfortable for passengers and leaves them starting the day in a positive mood.”
They added that it was the ‘best they’d ever experienced”.
Reading Buses HR Director Caroline Anscombe said: “Jennie consistently shows unrelenting customer focus with a cheerful and welcoming attitude and excellent driving skills.
“She has an excellent overall performance and certainly deserves to be our latest Star of the Month.”
