Promedica24 is Europe’s largest provider of live-in care, supporting thousands of customers in the UK and Germany.
Having previously worked in the voluntary sector for more than 20 years, Leigh Slocombe opened Promedica24’s Wokingham branch in 2017 with a mission to ensure that people who are looking for care know that moving to a care home is not their only choice.
“Most people are aware of domiciliary care, but as soon as full-time care is needed they instantly think a care home is the next step,” Leigh says
“However, live-in care can be an alternative and affordable option with our prices comparing favourably to any care home in the area.
“Our service offers a range of care that is tailored to suit each individual with our care workers living in the home with our customers on a 24/7 basis, usually for six weeks at a time.
“Our experienced care workers are on hand to provide assistance when it’s needed with every day tasks, from cooking and cleaning through to personal care.”
“We offer a range of short and long-term support packages including: respite care, home from hospital support, end of life care or long-term support for a variety of people: those with mild learning disabilities, those with advanced care needs or those requiring companionship and less intensive support.”
Leigh added: “With the flexibility of support we are able to offer, it really should be something anyone with care needs considers, before having to make the decision of leaving the comfort of their own home.
“Moving home is stressful enough even when you’re in the prime of life, but when you’re older with failing health or limited mobility such an upheaval can be even more traumatic.
“Why should anyone have to put themselves through it, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and everything that is comfortable and familiar, when there is an affordable alternative at hand?”
When not organising care for his clients, Leigh is still active in the voluntary sector as a trustee of the literacy charity Outside-In World and he also volunteers at the over 60s lunch club at the Cornerstone in Norreys Avenue, Wokingham.
