A PENSIONER shopping in Woodley had her purse stolen – now police are appealing for help to track down the thieves.
In a bid to help them, Thames Valley Police have just released CCTV images of a man and a woman they wish to speak to.
Officers said that the incident took place between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Sunday, June 24 [The Wokingham Paper is querying this date as there is normally a boot sale on in the precinct on Sundays, not a market].
The 87-year-old victim was standing by a fruit stall in Woodley’s Crockhamwell Road shopping precinct.
Cash and a debit card were inside the purse and the card was then used to steal a quantity of cash from the victim’s bank account.
The CCTV images feature people who police say may have information which could assist their investigation.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “If you have any information about the incident or recognise the people shown in the images please contact the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting the reference ‘43180191545’ or contact us online.
“If you do not want to speak to police, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
