MEMBERS of a charity that helps Wokingham’s learning disabilities community put their best foot forward last month.
Making the most of their daily exercise, the group – who are all part of CLASP – were raising funds for its work, which includes self-advocacy for people with learning disabilities.
In normal times, they take part in a sponsored walk during February, but the pandemic meant the usual plan had to be slightly different this year.
Participants were asked to walk, run, jog or cycle for two miles or 45 minutes during the week of February 15.
And the event was a huge success.
Debra Morrison, who helps run the charity, said: “Most of our members and some of our friends and family joined us for the walk.
“We have so far raised £1,163 which is staggering and we are so pleased.
“The Virgin Money giving page is still open for more donations.”
The group is also holding an online quiz for Comic Relief from 11am on Friday, February 19. Places cost £5 and should be booked in advance.
