Thirty-eight of our club members enjoyed an absolutely wonderful five day Warners Break at their hotel, Bodelwydden Castle.
Our Social Secretary had not only arranged the Warners stay and coach, but also an excellent variety of trips. On our way there we stopped at Trentham Gardens and here we could visit the gardens or just wander around the shopping village with its 60 timber lodges housing shops, cafes and restaurants. From here we travelled to the hotel where the rooms, food and entertainment were all excellent.
The next day we were off to Llandudno, a beautiful Victorian resort. Here most of us travelled on the funicular tramway to reach the Great Orme with its wonderful views and walks. We also walked along the pier enjoying one of the excellent ice creams to be found in the area.
The following day was a free one, but we managed to fit so much into it. Starting with a guided walk to the church, this was followed by a visit to the castle and for some of us, a guided tour of the Trenches which are nearing completion.
The guide was so knowledgeable and we learnt so much of the history of the soldiers fighting in the First World War. Then off to the maze and the walled garden before heading to the Entertainment Room to watch a film before getting ready for dinner.
Another full day followed this with a visit to the beautiful Bodnant Gardens followed by a ride on the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway Train which took us through the very heart of the Snowdonia National Park.
Sadly on the Friday it was time to leave, but our holiday had not yet finished as on our return journey we visited the West Midland Safari Park where we also enjoyed a guided tour through the park.
We cannot believe that we escaped the rain especially as the South were suffering from extremely heavy rain. Once again, a big thank you to our wonderful social secretary Wendy.
