Serenata, will be performing at St Paul’s Church tonight – Saturday, 12th
September.
The concert starts at 7pm, and it will raise funds for the church’s Lighting Project.
The group comprising Louise Turner [Soprano], Hazel Todd [Oboe], Mary
Harris [‘Cello] and Adrian Davis [Harpsichord] will perform works by Bach,
Telemann, Buxtehude, Scarlatti, Handel, Rubbra and Britten.
Tickets are available on the door: £10 (Adults), £8 (Concessions), £1 (Under
18s). All are welcome.
The Lighting Project was born out of the church’s 2014 150th Anniversary celebrations.
The aim of the project is to create an adaptable lighting system appropriate for
all types of liturgical worship and performance art. A spokesperson for St Paul’s said that the church’s acoustics
lend themselves perfectly to musical and theatrical performance.
As one of
the largest performance spaces in Wokingham, and with a seating capacity for over 500 people, refurbishment of the lights will offer the borough an impressive and flexible arts facility as well as enhancing the art,
architecture and worship at this historic Grade II* listed Victorian building.
