FAMILIES flocked to an Arborfield school on Saturday, July 8 – but this was no after-hours detention, they’d come to enjoy a rock festival.
CoombesFest, a summer fete with a difference, was held at the Coombes CE Primary School, offering five hours of live music as well as games, stalls and activities.
And with the England game on at the time gates were due to open, organisers decided to show it on a big screen so families could capture the World Cup quarter final in all its glory.
Bands playing includes Hubba Bubba, Abi Powell, The Deltas, The Filthy Lamas, Wise Monkeys and Matthew Quilliam, who performed on the Ukulele.
Children could join in with activities organised by Combat Kids Parties, try a Nerf war, go on an inflatable slide and try scoring a goal against the Arborfield Aces.
Toddlers were able to enjoy a soft play area and a bouncy castle, and there were free craft activities for all ages to enjoy.
And there were plenty of refreshments, including a tuck shop, beers from Siren Craft Brew, a Pimm’s bar, a hog roast, Danish hot dogs and tea, coffee and cake.
Raffle prizes included a dinner for two at The George & Dragon in Swallowfield, a bouncy castle hire, tickets to Marvellous Festival and a family ticket to The Living Rainforest.
