THERE’S a new team in charge of the borough’s roads.
Following the resignation last month of Cllr Keith Baker from the role of Executive Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Anthony Pollock has been overseeing the role.
Earlier this week, this was made a permanent move, with Cllr David Chopping announced as his deputy.
It’s a return to the role for Cllr Pollock – he had previously been the Council’s lead councillor for highways before being Executive Member for Finance.
Cllr Chopping was previously Chairman of the Highways Consultative Board, and is currently the Chairman of Berry Brook Homes, one of the Council’s wholly-owned companies.
He will be taking charge of work relating to the Council’s new Highways contract.
Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor, Leader of the Council, said: “I am pleased that Cllr Pollock and Cllr Chopping have accepted these roles. They bring a wealth of experience in highways and public transport, and I look forward to working with them.”
