SWITCHING off the traffic lights at Winnersh Triangle during off-peak hours “is not possible”.
That’s the verdict of Cllr Anthony Pollock, the executive member for highways and transport.
He was at a full council meeting of Wokingham Borough Council on Thursday, November 22, and was responding to a question by Lib Dem member Rachelle Shepherd-DuBey who wanted to know if there was any progress on the proposal.
“The junctions are designed to operate as signal controlled and do not meet the specifications to operate without signals. To do this would be unsafe and result in a higher risk of accidents.”
He did, however, promises “a potential improvement to the light sequencing”, with a test run planned before Christmas.
