A woman from Earley and her Reading-based husband have been found guilty of plotting a terror attack.
The jury delivered their verdict today, Tuesday, December 29.
Sana Ahmed Khan, 24, of Hutton Close, Earley, and her husband Mohammed Rehman, 25, of Radstock Road, Reading, both denied the charges, with Rehman denying a second charge of possession of articles for terrorist purposes.
They had previously heard how Mr Rehman, of Radstock Road in Newtown, Reading, has taken to social media to discuss targeting both London Underground and the Westfield Shopping Centre. He also filmed a test explosion in his back garden using chemicals which had been bought by Ms Khan. The footage was shown to the jury during the trial.
Neither Rehman or Khan gave evidence during the four-week trial, but Rehman’s police interview, in which he claimed he had acquired the chemicals for ‘excitement’, was played to the jury in full.
In a raid on his family home in May, police found 10kg of Urea Nitrate explosives in Rehman’s bedroom.
They also uncovered a ‘Royal Flush’ of terrorist videos and documents, including the martyrdom video of 7/7 bomber Shehzad Tanweer, Al Qaeda propaganda magazines, and videos produced by Islamic State leaders.
His wife was accused of funding his efforts to build a bomb.
