CROWTHORNE & Crown Wood picked up their second victory of the season as a century from captain Will Avrili helped them to defeat Woodley by five wickets.
Having been put into bat by Crowthorne, Woodley made an exceptional start to their innings as opening pair Rizmy Nilamdeen (77) and Mohamed Rimzan (71) forged a terrific partnership.
Woodley’s captain Fasul Nufail then added 61 runs as the opening three batsmen in the order tallied a huge score to give the hosts a terrific start to their innings.
However, their fortunes would change as the middle and tail order collapsed rapidly as Arshad Mohamed (26) was the only batsman who managed to tally double figures after the good start made by the opening trio.
Will Avrili remained alert in the field taking two catches and one run out as bowler Jeff Cluett gained three wickets.
Having set Crowthorne a chase of 273, Woodley made a vital early breakthrough as Arshad Mohamed bowled Nick Outramout for a duck but opening batsman James Whitehurst batted a fine innings as he scored 76 before he was bowled out by Naveed Asghar.
But a mammoth innings from Will Aviril proved pivotal for Crowthorne as he kept his wicket on the way to knocking 104 runs and stayed in bat as the visitors overtook Woodley’s total after 38 overs with five wickets left to spare.
The victory sees Crowthorne move up to third place in the table having earned their second win of the season while Woodley are in eight position.
