MEMBERS of Crowthorne Tennis Club will represent Berkshire against Great Britain internationals next month.
Eight of Crowthorne’s players will compete as part of the annual Forte Village 24-hour tennis marathon, held at the national tennis centre in Roehampton on Sunday, February 18.
One of those selected is the men’s singles champion from Crowthorne, James Brennan, beginning at 8am for a four-hour session.
Among the opponents will be former Davis Cup player Danny Sapsford and Commonwealth gold medallist Jocelyn Rae.
The Crowthorne club are using the event as a chance to raise money for a new clubhouse to try and boost its 130-strong membership.
“We are delighted to be a part of such a special event,” said Crowthorne Tennis Club chairman Richard McCully.
“Most importantly, the fundraising will help us to create a superb new facility to enhance a great family tennis club, which we hope will attract more beginners to join us to try the sport and increase the number of competitive players enjoying our courts.”
As well as the tennis, Crowthorne’s Tina Stern will also be taking part in a fundraising sky dive experience in London.
