A 60-year-old man was taken to hospital this afternoon after a van caught fire in The Oracle this afternoon.
Around 2pm this afternoon, a fire has broken out in the Holybrook car park of the popular Reading shopping centre, causing it to be evacuated. However, the stores have since reopened.
Thick black smoke was seen across town and emergency services were on site to tackle the blaze.
An announcement was sounded asking customers to leave to riverside centre due to the emergency, but the shops are not affected and visitors are being welcomed as Game confirmed in a tweet:

A spokesperson for the South Central Ambulance Crew confirmed that a van had caught fire.
He told The Wokingham Paper: “We were called at 14.01 to a van fire in the car park.
“A 60-year-old male suffered burns to his hands and face.
“A rapid response vehicle and one of our officers took the patient to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment.”
