Doug Sheppard branded his Bracknell Bees side “embarrassing” after they were beaten by struggling Invicta Dynamos at The Hive.
The Mos arrived in Bracknell with a record of two wins and 31 defeats from their 33 matches this campaign, but they produced their best display of the campaign to stun the Bees.
Sheppard’s men moved 3-1 up on Sunday through goals from Roman Malinik, Ryan Watt and Ryan Sutton to cancel out an Owen Dell strike.
However, Invicta responded to end the contest at 3-3 thanks to Lewis English and Matt Foord goals, despite a 29-4 shot count in Bees favour in the third period.
The game moved all the way to penalties, where Dynamos won 1-0 with Louis Colvin the only man to find the net with Aidan Doughty, Malinik, Tyler VanKleef, Watt and Zack Milton all missing.
That followed on from a 3-0 defeat against league leaders Swindon Wildcats on Saturday on a disappointing weekend.
“Invicta showed up with 12 guys and it seems they wanted it more than us,” said Sheppard.
“Credit to the Dynamos for their win but for us to lose on home ice to an Invicta team that short benched is embarrassing.
“I’m embarrassed, the players should be embarrassed and it’s unacceptable.”
Bees stay fourth in the table and host Milton Keynes Thunder on Sunday. For more from Sheppard, see The Wokingham Paper on Thursday.
