AN EASTER hamper was the star attraction at a fun event held in Spencers Wood on Saturday, April 13.
Members of St Michael’s and All Angels Church on Basingstoke Road turned the church’s sanctuary into stalls for the day.
There were traditional side shows and games to play, a raffle, gift stalls and plenty of fun.
The church’s café, Caf’ Active, was also open, serving a selection of cakes, lunches and coffees for visitors. And there was also an opportunity to have a go at lawn bowls thanks to a demonstration from Three Mile Cross bowls club, which will hold an open day next month.
But it was the chance to win a packed Easter hamper that caught the eye of visitors.
Sue Alderman, a church member who helped organise the event, said: “The Easter hamper was our star attraction. It was a lovely hamper, just excellent with all sorts in it.
“The fayre went very, very well – £1,300 was raised. I’m a happy bunny as that’s more than last year. And it was very well attended.”
The church’s Caf’ Active is open from Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 2pm, offers cakes, sandwiches and hot food, with proceeds donated back to the church.
