Emergency roadworks on Finchampstead Road in Wokingham is adding to the ongoing traffic misery for commuters – and it’s set to continue until Wednesday.
Earlier today, SGN arrived to carry out the repairs on a stretch of road close to Evendons Lane.
The area affected is close to Luckley House and Evendons Primary School and outside the town centre.
During the works, two-way traffic lights will be in place during peak hours.
The latest set of lights making motorists see red come while a small section of Broad Street by Wokingham’s town hall is closed, forcing traffic on to Denmark Street or through Rose Street to cross through the town.
As a result, Wokingham town centre is currently clogged with traffic.
Bradley Barlow, a spokesperson for SGN, explained: “We’re carrying out emergency repairs to our gas main in Finchampstead Road, Wokingham.
“To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll have temporary two-way traffic lights in place that will be manually controlled during peak hours to keep the traffic moving.
“We hope to complete this work and remove our traffic lights by Wednesday 18 October.”
