Highways England has announced that the M4 will be closed this evening after a fuel spillage on the carriageway.
The closure, which affects Junction 8/9 (Maidenhead) to Junction 7 (Slough West), takes place from 9pm on Thursday, July 25, and is expected to be completed by 6am tomorrow morning.
This will enable the agency to carry out resurfacing works on the affected carriageway.
In a statement, Highways England said: “Following a road traffic incident earlier today, we have booked an emergency closure of the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between Junction 8/9 at Maidenhead and Junction 7 at Slough West.
“There was a quantity of fuel spilled onto the carriageway and therefore we need to carry out re-surfacing works.
“The closure will begin at approximately 21:00 tonight (25th July) and be complete by approximately 06:00 tomorrow morning (26th July).”
