TEN lucky children enjoyed a thrilling day at a wildlife park thanks to the work of a Woodley-based charity.
Me2 Club, which is based in Headley Road and helps children and young people with additional needs to access mainstream activities, took the youngsters on a special Day Away to the Cotswold Wildlife Park on Wednesday, August 30.
Three volunteers and four members of staff joined the children on the trip, which was made possible by a donation from the Berkshire Community Foundation.
The trip was designed to increase the children’s confidence and independence skills, and included a group discussion on what animals they all wanted to see.
Throughout the day, the children were encouraged to spend their pocket money on gifts, choose their own ice creams and to look after their own belongings.
Liz McDaniel, Me2 Club’s Fundraising and Development Officer, said: “Feedback from the children and their families was overwhelmingly positive and our aim is to now secure further funding so that all our children get their wish to come away with us on future ‘Days Away’ and ‘Weekends Away’. Thank you to the Trustees of Berkshire Community Foundation who made this trip possible!”
