Van with a permit gets fine in Shute End car park
EVEN the council isn’t above the law when it comes to parking!
This council van was given a ticket for overstaying its welcome.
It had been parked for more than 30 minutes in a visitors’ bay in the newly-revamped Shute End car park.
Although it had a permit, the van was parked in the wrong area and therefore received a penalty charge from the borough council’s parking wardens.
Cllr Philip Mirfin, Executive Member for Regeneration, confirmed that the vehicle was right to receive a parking fine.
He told The Wokingham Paper: “Regardless of the vehicle, if it is breaching parking regulations, our Civil parking enforcement team will issue a ticket.
“The owner is responsible unless an agreement is in place for the driver to take responsibility.
“As always, the ticket can be challenged.”
