EVERSLEY & California began their Combined Counties league campaign with defeat as they fell to Westside.
Two second-half goals from Westwide ensured they would return with all three points as they earned their second win of the season having beaten FC Deportivo in their first match.
Eversley again fielded three dual-registered players as Jamal Johnson started having impressed last week, and was joined by Binfield boys James Grigg and Johny Hatherway.
The sides went in on level pegging at the break after a relatively even contest which saw both sides fail to break the deadlock.
Connor Allston replaced the injured Goerge Marsh at half-time and the Boars began the second period brightly.
Westside took the lead as the referee waved away protests after what looked like a clear foul on Jayson Dalton and ran clear to score the first goal of the game.
The Boars battled to try and find an equaliser as Johnson came close to finding the leveller but was thwarted bravely by the Westside goalkeeper.
Eversley continued to press for a goal and won two corners in quick succession as they piled the pressure on their opponents.
But Westside counter-attacked quickly to double their lead as their number ten outsmarted the defence and then scored past Jordi Wilson.
With the Boars pushing forward to find a way back in the game, Westside exploited the space in behind as their number two ran clear for a one-on-one but Wilson made a brilliant save to his right to prevent any further damage to the score.
Despite a good fight, Eversley’s opening league game would end in defeat as Westside held on for a 2-0 win.
