I was sat down earlier before planning this article watching The Equaliser.
A brilliant film starring the fantastic Denzel Washington about a former Assassin who gets involved in his old world again. A truly amazing film just like the first film again starring Washington. It contains a lot of violence, it’s all action but with a great storyline, it’s amazing … I would recommend you watch it if you haven’t already.
What have you been doing today?
How have you spent your time in the last seven days since the release of our last article?
Now going back to the film I was watching, one of the key traits or skills depending on how you look at it of the main man Denzel was his discipline.
I don’t want to ruin it for you if you are going to watch it going off my informal review, but his discipline is unreal. The guy is the man for detail. He is very precise and very specific and puts 100% effort into every action he gets involved in.
This got me thinking into this week’s article and I would like to touch on being consistently driven and setting high standards today.
How often do you buy something and it’s broken before you get it home?
Do you ever get promised a call back from an agent on the phone and end up disappointed when you don’t get the call?
Have you ever paid for a 10 out of 10 service and only received six out of 10 quality?
Can you remember a time when you went to a restaurant and paid for a five-star rated meal yet been left upset with not only the standard of the meal prepared but also the response after you have brought it up?
I know I have for sure and this is one of the reasons why I always try and keep standards high and stay driven and on course to be the best that I can be.
We seem to live in an era where mediocre service and mediocre standards are becoming the norm and today, I encourage you to go against the current and do your best to be the best that you can possibly be.
I have designed some simple and easy guidelines for you today to keep those standards high and also be driven to be your best.
As always, read them, read them again and then implement them ASAP. So, here you, let’s get down to it:
- Think BIG and act small
- Associate with people that are different and set high standards
- Don’t listen to the majority, go with your gut
- Spend time doing productive growth-based activities
- Do what others are not willing to do
- Try new things
- Learn more than everyone else
- Wake up earlier
- Never surrender on the things you really want
- Get excited about life.
I love giving guidelines and I love following guidelines. You could see the guidelines above as habit options, things that you could start doing. There are 10 and I promise you now that if you followed all of the 10 habit guidelines, that you will be well on your way to being super productive, super driven and definitely not mediocre.
I could write a whole article on every single one of the above guidelines but to be honest I think you get the idea. I want you to THINK BIG today and then take small actionable steps towards that goal. Small steps taken often lead to success.
If you know someone with high standards, follow the NLP concept of modelling and copy what they do. Ask questions and then implement the advice. Go with your GUT, it may not always be right but at least it is your gut after all.
Use your free time wisely. I am not saying you must be super productive all the time but set aside time for growth. Set aside time for chilling. Set aside time for being proactive. Set aside time for complete and utter fun.
Try new things. If you do what you have always done, then you’ll get what you’ve always got. Think different and get different. Act different and attain different.
Finally, get excited.
- Get excited about living.
- Get excited about achieving wonderful things.
- Get excited about what opportunities lay outside the comfort zone.
- Get excited about bettering yourself.
- Get excited about YOU.
“Mediocrity will never do. You are capable of something better.”
“In the republic of mediocrity, genius is dangerous.”
Go out and be dangerous today.
Happy Sunday, see you again next time.
