PASSENGERS hoping to travel to Henley Royal Regatta by train this weekend will find dozens of extra services in operation.
An additional 97,000 seats are being provided by Great Western Rail across 94 extra trains between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames from Wednesday until Sunday to help deal with the huge influx of visitors heading to and from the event.
On Saturday alone, more than 25 additional trains will operate, offering 35,000 more seats for passengers.
Henley-on-Thames Station Manager David Pinder said customers may need to be patient and can help by having their rail ticket ready as they come to leave Henley-on-Thames station.
He said: “We are delighted to be able to provide these additional services, in support of the Henley Royal Regatta.
“While our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving, I would urge passengers to allow time for their journeys, as a queuing system will be in place at both Twyford and Henley to allow passengers to board trains safely.”
Those commuting between London Paddington and Henley during the regatta are advised to check before they travel as there are alterations to usual service times.
