THIS YEAR’S family fun day in Langborough Recreation Ground attracted lots of praise from parents.
Cllr Gwynneth Hewetson, chair of the Arts & Culture Committee at Wokingham Town Council, said that the free event held on Saturday, May 26, was blessed with great weather and that she had received fantastic feedback from residents who attended.
The event, held in Langborough Recreation Ground, saw a mixture of fairground rides, activities, face painting, entertainment and a petting zoo, all aimed at younger children.
Although food vans were available residents were also encouraged to bring a picnic and make a day of it.
And despite the thundery showers forecast for the day, it was dry and sunny.
“It went absolutely brilliantly, people were coming up and saying it was a really great day,” Cllr Hewetson said.
“Children had been on practically everything. There were so many things to try with no expense, that’s lovely.”
She added that her fellow town councillors and officers had worked hard to ensure the day was a success, saying that it was now a “well oiled machine”.
And the following day The Owl And The Pussycat was performed in Howard Palmer Gardens, again a free event with donations towards costs welcomed.
“How brilliant to have somewhere to go on the Saturday – a free fun fair – and then to be able to take the children to a theatre on the Sunday.
“It was so lovely.”
