FEEDBACK is being sought over plans for the latest phase of the South Wokingham Distributor Road (SWDR).
Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) has submitted an application for the latest part of the SWDR, known as the Eastern Gateway, following a public consultation over the summer.
Around 130 people attended an exhibition on the Eastern Gateway at Montague Park Primary School in June and July, hearing more about the plans from officers and giving their feedback on the proposals.
Residents and businesses are being asked to have their say on the plans before November 22, when the statutory consultation period ends.
The proposed route of the road runs from the Montague Park housing development at William Heelas Way to Waterloo Road via a new bridge over the Waterloo/Reading railway line.
Once the new bridge is open, the current Waterloo Road level crossing would close and all traffic including cyclists and pedestrians would use that and the new road.
The later stages of the SWDR would pick up from Waterloo Road and continue to new junctions at Easthampstead Road and Finchampstead Road, connecting to the existing Tesco roundabout.
Cllr David Lee, WBC’s deputy leader and executive member for strategic highways and planning, said: “This is a milestone application for development of much needed housing and infrastructure improvements.
“Residents and businesses have been heavily involved from the start with their valued feedback helping to shape the plans. We want this to continue and would encourage people to get involved again to see the exact details and have their say about the plans.
“The SWDR is being designed primarily to ease existing traffic problems for residents living in nearby roads as well as carry vehicles from the new homes being built.”
