ANDY HOUSE top scored with 96 as Finchampstead chased down a target of 275 to beat Banbury in the Home Counties Premier League.
Finches, who are now unbeaten in four, lost the toss with Banbury opting to bat first.
And they got off to a solid start, reaching 59 before the first wicket fell when Craig Hodges
removed Craig Haupt for 31 with Dan Lincoln making the catch.
Hodges went on to take two more wickets, ending as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-48.
But with star men Jandre Coetzee and JJ Dewes both missing, Finches struggled to break down the hosts as they closed on 274-8 off their 64 overs.
Aside from Hodges’ three, Adam Dewes was next in line with 2-52 as Matt Carter, Anthony Parson and Max Uttley all drew blanks.
However, the visitors set about the chase in fine fashion, reaching 73 before Greg Smith was clean bowled for 30.
In came Dan Marles to produce a fine partnership with House, as the pair also did two weeks ago.
House fell for 96 while Marles went on to get 60 and with in-form Billy Rogers posting 48 not out, Finches reached 276-7 after 54 overs.
Marles’ men now sit fourth in the table, just 17 points behind leaders Henley.
WOKINGHAM have moved to the top of the Thames Valley Premier League table with a thumping nine-wicket win over struggling Finchampstead 2s.
Newly promoted Finches are still seeking their first win in the top flight, but the Oaks are on a charge with this their third win on the spin.
Finch won the toss and batted first, but Jarrett Bobb had a wonderful day with the ball, posting figures of 6-48.
Gary Loveday (21) and Sam Jenkins (24) got the visitors off to a decent start but quick wickets from Lewis Sharp and Paul Dewick got the breakthrough.
Ed Oliver’s 60 was the only score of any real resistance as Bobb tore through the tail end to bowl them out for 180.
And that chase was straightforward with Stuart Parsons (78no), Stuart Hayter (36) and Dan Housego (61no) completing the job between them in under 36 overs.
