OVERHEATING brakes sparked fears of a lorry fire on the M4 in Wokingham earlier this morning.
The driver sought the assistance of the emergency services when encountering problems as he drove along the westbound section of the motorway between junctions 10 for the A329(M) and 11 for Three Mile Cross.
Pumps from Wokingham, Wokingham Road and Caversham Road fire stations all raced out to the scene, where a thermal imaging camera detected a problem with the brakes.
The truck was not on fire.
Firefighters remained with the lorry for around 30 minutes as they waited for the brakes to cool down.
A mechanic was later called out to attend to the lorry, which had pulled up on the hard shoulder.
The driver was unhurt during the incident, which was reported just after 4.20am on Tuesday morning.
