WINNERSH pupils have celebrated positive GCSE results today, a headteacher has said.
Shirley Austin, at The Forest School, has sent her congratulations to students and their families as her Year 11s picked up their grades this morning.
More than 80% of pupils passed English and maths with a grade 4 or above this year, and 84% passed all subjects with at least a 4.
Every single student passed biology, chemistry and physics with grades 4 and above, while 91% received their maths GCSE and 87% English.
One pupil, Harry Davis, achieved a grade 9 in every subject studied this year. Ms Austin said this “phenomenal result” puts him in the highest percentage of national results.
This is the second year students’ results have been calculated through assessments and internal exams.
“I am delighted that my staff have worked diligently to ensure results based on data from classroom tests and mock exams have allowed us to issue fair, accurate and quality assured results,” the headteacher said.
“The Forest School results reflect the hard work, determination, stoicism that our Year 11 students put into their studies.”
Other special mentions went to Sadiq Baksh, Tanav Dole, Sebastian Robinson and Harry Thorpe who were graded 7 and above for every GCSE.
Ms Austin said it has not only been a year of good results but sporting first, musical successes and more.
“[Students] really have endured a monumental shift in expectations during this historical time and they have been sterling in their efforts, learning attitudes and results,” she added.
Many of the pupils now plan to return to The Forest School’s sixth form next month.
