The sun shone down on Richfield Avenue for the first day of Reading Festival 2017.
Bands including Bastille, Two Door Cinema Club and Kimmy Eat World rocked the Main Stage, while Kasabian headlined the first night.
The band surprised revellers with a special appearance onstage by their good friend and Great British Bake Off host, Noel Fielding.
US rockers Queens of the Stone Age, who headlined the festival in 2014, played a secret set on the NME/BBC Radio 1 Stage at 9.20pm, drawing a huge crowd who sangs and danced along to hits including No One Knows, Feel Good Hit of the Summer, and tracks from their new album, Villains.
The band had played another secret set at the festival’s sister event in Leeds earlier in the day.
Local band The Amazons played a blistering set on the Festival Republic Stage earlier in the afternoon, with a huge crowd filling the tent to capacity.
