The annual Shinfield 10k run was hailed as a great success after attracting the biggest field in the event’s recent history with 809 finishers.
It took place in the village on May Day holiday Monday in what organisers said were perfect running conditions.
There were some great performances this year, with nine runners clocking times of under 35 minutes and 39 coming in under 40 minutes.

Race organiser Colin Cottell, from Reading Roadrunners, said: “It was great to see so many running clubs represented, with Reading Roadrunners seeing off fierce competition from Bracknell Forest Runners to clinch both the men’s and women’s team prizes.
“The Shinfield 10k maintained its reputation for being a community event, with hundreds of people out on the streets and at the finish to support the runners.”
And there was also keen competition in routes for youngsters.
Junior race director Tom Harrison, said:”It is important for young people to get outside in the fresh air to exercise,
so I am delighted that The Shinfield Junior Races continue to grow in popularity.
“I hope to see many of these youngsters develop a real love for running and look forward to seeing them in the 10k race in future years.”
Profits from the event will go to First Days, a Hurst-based charity that redistributes baby and toddler equipment and clothes, and The Shinfield Association.
