ALMOST half of all pupils sitting GCSEs at The Bulmershe School in Woodley were awarded top grades of 9-5 – the equivalent of the old A*-B grades.
Delighted headteacher Amanda Woodfin said that all of its teaching departments had had success stories to tell, and that she was “proud of all of our students”.
These included:
Reuben and Bethany who both achieved nine grades 9-8 or equivalent; Celia and Sumeet who achieved eight grade 9-8 or equivalent; Liam who achieved seven grade 9-8 or equivalent; Sophie who achieved six grade 9-8 or equivalent; and Darsh who achieved four grade 9-8 or equivalent.
Four out of five physics students gained grades 9-5, while almost nine in 10 chemistry (86%) students and biology (88%) students did the same.
In photography, 81% of pupils scooped grades 9-5.
Ms Woodfin said: “These are amazing results”.
Other successes included art, where all entries achieved at least 9-4 grades.
In triple sciences, 89% achieved 9-4 grades.
In other subjects, the percentage of pupils who got 9-4 grades were as follows: 73% religious studies, 71% music, 79% computer science, 73% drama and 67% English literature.
“We look forward to welcoming Year 12 into our sixth form and thank them for their many contributions to school life here at Bulmershe,” Ms Woodfin said.
