PIGGOTT SCHOOL pupils enjoyed another ‘amazing’ year for GCSE results, according to its headteacher.
Overall, its Progress 8 score is currently estimated to be +0.89.
Derren Gray said: “I am very pleased to announce another outstanding set of GCSE results for The Piggott School. Our students and staff have worked incredibly hard and this is once again shown in this year’s results.
“The P8 score means that, on average, every child in every P8 subject achieved nearly one grade higher at The Piggott School than at an average school.”
In all, nine out of 10 students passed English and maths at the new Level 4 or above – the equivalent of grade C in the old system.
“Our combined best English and mathematics Level 4+ pass rate was 86%,” Mr Gray added.
And there was a full house pass rate of 100% at Level 4 or above for history, dance, DIDA (Diploma in Digital Applications) and Chinese.
In art, 99% passed, 98% in biology and physics, 97% in computer science, 96% chemistry, 95% in media studies, 94% in French and 90% in food technology.
The same good scores continued in drama (87% at Level 4+), combined science (86%), business studies (85%), music (83%), RE (83%), sports studies (82%) and geography (82%)
“The vast majority of our students will be returning to study at our sixth form, together with a significant number of external candidates in September.
“I thank all the teaching and support staff for their continued hard work, dedication and professionalism. Congratulations to all our students on their richly deserved success, and thank you to all their parents for their unstinting support.”
