HARRY Mansfield is hoping love – and money – are in the air this Valentine’s Day.
The Wokingham based artist and inventor has just patented a unique swirling greetings card.
He is now looking for funding to develop the design which can be adapted to other items such as lampshades, garden furniture and a baby mobile.
Harry, who works as a gardener when not inventing, has launched a crowd funding page and is looking for a business backer to take his ideas into the big time.
“I have called my design the Galactic swirl and its creation is something of a happy accident,” he explained.
“It occurred while trying to find a way to make a previous design called the Archimedes screws easier to build. I discovered a new shape by folding not stretching and the Galactic swirl was born. I love kinetic sculptures and have been working on different types over the years.”
Harry’s cards feature the logo “I Love You All Around The Universe” and are available on his website. However, he has launched a Kickstarter page in a bid to mass produce it as a year-round gift.
“It really is a unique idea which I think will catch on because people are always looking for something different for a loved one,” he added.
“I am also able to adapt it to other items such as a shop open spinning sign or garden sculptures. The problem is getting the finance and the support of a business person who knows how to market products.”
Harry has a number of kinetic sculptures on display including a free turning golden ships propeller at Dinton Pastures with a similar version at Emmbrook primary school.
