Hurst village is switching on its Christmas tree lights as an early celebration of the festival day of its patron saint, St Nicholas, writes Sue Corcoran.
The event is at School Road recreation ground on Sunday, December 2, with the gates opening at 4.45pm.
Carol singing will be led by Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band. The big switch on is at 5.30pm.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be provided along with goodie bags for the children.
Cars can be parked opposite the park at Hurst Cricket Club.
St Nicholas Day is on Thursday, December 6 and in some countries is the day when shoes are filled with presents.
