A STREAM of visitors flocked to Shinfield’s refurbished parish hall to find out more about hiring it.
Members of the parish council were on hand at the open event to answer queries and show people round the refreshed facilities.
The work, which took place last autumn, included lowering the ceiling to improve acoustics, fitting heating and air conditioning, colour changing LED lighting and eight ceiling mounted speakers that are compatible with phones and MP3 players.
It is planned to install a projection system and screen to add to the facilities.
And there’s a hi-tech makeover for the toilets, including auto flushing toilets, modern hand dryers and automatic taps.
The kitchen has a new twin oven range cooker and a commercial dishwasher that can wash dishes, glasses and cups in just three minutes.
Cllr Peter Hughes, chairman of the parish council, said: “We’ve been steady with visitors. People are interested in using the hall as a party venue.
“You’re not paying extra to hire chairs, crockery, cutlery etc, which makes it a very economical solution.”
The hall can seat up to 80 or 100 standing and the parish council is hoping to buy round tables in the future.
