AN EARLEY church is proving that two heads are better than one after welcoming its new vicars.
The Revds Hannah and Philip Hobday will share the role of vicar at Earley St Peter’s in Church Road.
The pair were installed into the church at a special service presided over by the Bishop of Reading, the Rt Revd Andrew Proud.
During the service, Bishop Andrew thanked those at the church who had worked so hard during the pastoral vacancy and refered to the Hobday’s licensing as “the start of an adventure”.
“St Peter’s has grown in the body of Christ in confidence and purpose because of this,” he said.
The couple spoke of the “warm and generous welcome” they had received from the church members.
“Thank you for your support,” Mr Hobday said during the service. “We have been bowled over by your kindness and generosity. We feel so welcome”.
The couple were also welcomed into their role by the Mayor of Earley Town Council, Councillor Melanie de Jong and clergy from the Reading area.
The event was followed by a buffet and the cutting of a celebratory cake.
