Tiny tracks are a life hack for members of a railway modelling group who celebrated their 50th anniversary last week.
The Loddon Vale Model Railway Society celebrated its special milestone with an exhibition at Swallowfield Parish Hall on Saturday. The event featured 10 layouts and a raffle that included prizes such as railway set starter kits.
Delighted by the number of people who attended the display, chairman of the society Brian Lee said: “It was a very good show. We had lots of visitors and it was a nice way of acknowledging how far the club has come since its foundation.”
And having witnessed the society’s growth since joining in 1989, Mr Lee added: “It has developed from a small hobby in the back of someone’s garden to an active club of 30 members.”
The group meet every Tuesday from 7pm-10pm at Grazeley Village Hall and offer free trial evenings for anyone considering joining.
Deeply invested in rail modelling himself, Mr Lee said it is a “really great” hobby.
“It may be fiddly and time consuming, but for us older members it’s what keeps us going,” he added.
The group will now prepare for appearances at this year’s Woodley Carnival as well as their Autumn exhibition at St Peter’s Church Hall, Earley, in September.
