Members of the Reading Geological Society and their guests enjoyed an Introduction to Geology meeting in Wargrave last week.
The morning was spent in the Village Hall, when we were instructed in the fundamentals of geology and spent lots of time on experiments demonstrating geological phenomena. In the afternoon, we visited Wargrave Chalk Quarry, where we examined the rocks, considered how they were formed and collected fossils.
The Reading Geological Society organises monthly lectures and field meetings. Our next lecture is on Iceland and Glaciation and the next field meeting is a walk over Bowsey Hill near Henley.
Please look at our website – readinggeology.org – all welcome!
