Do you want to give something back to your local community?
If so, the Wokingham Lions Club is organising a Presentation and Lions Awareness Evening on Wednesday, April 3 between 8pm and 9.30pm, in Wokingham Town Hall.
Those interested in learning more about the Wokingham Lions Club, and possibly joining the club, are welcome to attend.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet current members of the Lions Club, learn about the club’s fundraising activities as well as social events, and find out how to join the club and get involved in helping the local community.
John Cleary, director of membership for Wokingham Lions Club, said: “The evening will include cheque presentations to local charities from monies raised from this year’s fundraising events.
“It’s also an opportunity for those considering getting involved in voluntary work to come and meet club members in an informal setting and ask questions about who we are and what we do and hopefully find out whether joining our club is right for them.”
He added: “You’ll be amazed how diverse our community work can be.
“Our current membership is 33, which includes both men and women of all ages, young and the not so young.
“However, because we are such an active club in Wokingham, we are always looking for new members.
“To be part of an organisation that has the ability to help and support the good works of local charities, as well as individuals in need, brings a lot of self-satisfaction.
“We are always open to new ideas for raising funds.
“Our biggest event is the annual May Fayre, taking place on the Bank Holiday Monday, May 6.”
Drinks and a finger buffet are included in the event.
