A WOKINGHAM pub that is due to close on Sunday will reopen in July as a Bears restaurant, with breakfasts, craft beers and live music all on the menu.
Wetherspoon is calling time on its tenancy of The Gig House in The Plaza, Erftstadt Court, but the new company is poised to give the venue a makeover before turning on the taps early next month.
Bears already has a branch at The Packhouse, just outside Farnham but owner Rupert Butcher is promising to blend the best of The Gig with his successful restaurant.
Bears will offer a range of freshly-cooked dishes and pub classics including Fish & Chips, Steak, Burgers and Pork Belly along with some Sharing Platters.
Mr Butcher is promising that the premises will continue to be a spacious and lively drinking spot throughout the daytime and evening.
And the menu will include early morning breakfasts, with Full Englishes nestling alongside modern options including a Smashed Avocado Bagel.
Additionally, The Gig House will look to welcome live music acts on Fridays, while serving craft beers and as well as familiar beers and ciders.
In a statement, Mr Butcher said: “’I am extremely excited to be bringing my experience and restaurant background to Wokingham.
“It’s a great town and I look forward to reinvigorating The Gig House to make it the must-visit spot to meet with friends, catch up over lunch, or enjoy a fun night out.”
