Jake Taylor has completed a season-long loan deal to join SPL side Motherwell.
The midfielder, who has made 36 appearances for Reading, featured regularly at the start of last season but struggled for game time under Steve Clarke and was sent for a brief stint at Leyton Orient.
Academy product Taylor, 23, also earned a cap for the Wales national team last year and Clarke feels he needs game time to continue pushing on.
“Jake is at a stage in his career where he needs to play regularly,” he said.
“I couldn’t promise that this would happen at Reading this season and the opportunity for Jake to play in the SPL is good for everyone.
“We will monitor Jake’s progress in Scotland and wish him well for the season.”
Director of football Nick Hammond, added: “This is a good opportunity for Jake to get the experience of regular first-team action
“Motherwell is a good club and they have a good manager in Ian Baraclough, and Jake will benefit from the chance to play regular football.”
Taylor has been handed the number 25 shirt and goes straight into the squad to face Hearts on Wednesday night.
