SOME of the fastest internet speeds in the country will soon be available to businesses along Molly Millars Lane.
The state-of-the-art fibre broadband lines will offer speeds of up to 100 times faster than the national average and the project to install the infrastructure starts next month.
It will be offered to units in the Wokingham town centre industrial park, which hosts a wealth of big businesses.
Lines will be provided by full-fibre infrastructure provider CityFibre in partnership with local telecoms specialist BtL and extends Thames Valley’s popular Gigabit City networks into Wokingham.
The companies have been working over the past year to bring gigabit internet speeds to businesses across the Thames Valley, with Reading, Bracknell, Slough and Maidenhead already benefiting from the service.
Nick Gray, city development manager at CityFibre, said: “Our Gigabit City networks have wide-reaching capabilities. As we continue to expand our Thames Valley network it’s great to have such a strong interest from the business community in Wokingham.
“Local businesses have been extremely vocal about their need for better connectivity in the Molly Millars Lane area in particular, so we’re excited to be supporting them by bringing the network to their doorstep.”
Gifts, souvenirs and retail product specialists, The Carole Group is one of the first businesses to sign up for the new Wokingham network.
Ceri Jones, Creative Director at The Carole Group, said: “When BTL and CityFibre showed up on our doorstep with a simple proposition, fast internet with them taking care of the install, it was a no-brainer.”
CityFibre partner, Berkshire-based IT and telecoms specialist BtL Communications will work to connect businesses across the network.
Rob Lamden, Managing Director, BtL said: “We are really pleased to be working with CityFibre to deliver affordable, ultrafast broadband across the Molly Millars area for the first time, thanks to the network expansion.
“We’ve been working to raise awareness of the capabilities of full-fibre connectivity in the area over recent months, and the feedback we’ve received from businesses has shown it is top of the wish list for many firms.”
